M.V.M. has been leading manufacturer of grinding machines for straight and circular blades for over 50 years. We offer customers quarterly technical courses in grinding, which cover all the key aspects of the knife and blade sharpening. It would be our pleasure to welcome you to the M.V.M. plant, to share our knowledge with you and provide opportunities for discussion with other members of the grinding industry. The course is offered free of charge and each company may send a maximum of two people. M.V.M. provides a buffet lunch and, at the end of the course, participants will receive hand-outs summarising all the topics covered, together with an attendance certificate.


The course is open to:
- Grinding workshops and centres;

- Customers who grind and sharpen their own blades.

- Grinding machine levelling;
- Liquid coolant preparation and maintenance;
- Grinding machine precision control;
- Operations to rectify errors;
- Magnetic chuck zeroing and squaring;
- Choosing the right blade alignment on the magnetic chuck;
- Introduction to selecting grinding abrasives;
- Grinding trials on various blade types: granulator knives for plastic, chipper knives and planer blades for saw mills and wood industry, paper knives with or without hard metal cutting edge for the paper industry, veneer knives, guillotine knives;
- How to use the RTS level detector;
- How to debur and hone paper knives;
- Lapping tungsten carbide hard-metal inserts;
- Straightening paper blades using the RDM;
- Sharpening disposable blades (Tersa, Centrofix, Terminus...);
- Sharpening and deburring bevelled circular blades;
- Sharpening tools on the M.V.M. universal grinding machine;
- Sharpening and setting band saw blades.
Grinding trials
The circular blade grinding trials will be carried out on the LA 500 model, the lapping trials on the BM 400-R, and all the other grinding trials on the PX 1000 and K 250 models.
